Hourly distribution of prohibited calls

Definition:

  • Prohibited calls refer to calls made using a non‑authorized audio device (phone speaker, wireless earbuds, phone audio) while the vehicle is in motion.
  • Figure 3 shows the hourly distribution of prohibited calls, along with the upper and lower bounds derived from the 2025 mean and its standard deviation (σ = 1). These envelopes represent the statistical dispersion observed in 2025 for each hourly segment. Overall, the levels recorded in January 2026 fall below those of January 2025 and below the 2025 mean across almost all hours of the day.

  • Only two time slots increased in January 2026: 4–5 a.m. (+38%) and 8–9 p.m. (+2%).

  • For the second consecutive year, the 8–9 p.m. slot stands out as the highest‑risk period.
